Bishop John’s Lent Appeal this year will be for the Friends of the Holy Land.
The 12 Anglican churches which make up the new Redditch Mission Area came together for the Make Christmas Special Toy Appeal 2023 providing Christmas gifts to 605 children.
In December 2022 the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) introduced the option for donors to give a one-off gift to a parish and have so far raised over £1.6 million, with the average gift being nearly £200!
Now we are in January and the busy-ness of Christmas has come to an end, many churches begin planning for the year ahead. Making sure that generosity and stewardship are a part of that plan can be very important in helping your church and community to go forward with confidence this year, improving health and sustainability.
A change to the law which came into effect on 26 December should make it easier for PCCs to apply to parish councils for funding for items such as churchyard maintenance and clock maintenance.
As we head into Advent and the Christmas season, there will be a host of services and fundraising events taking place in our churches. Make the most of them with some strategies and ideas from our stewardship team.
This winter, National Grid’s electricity distribution business has teamed up with Localgiving to deliver grants to charitable organisations tackling fuel poverty in their communities.
The Anglican Archbishop of Jerusalem and Archbishop Justin are encouraging support for the Anglican ministries in Gaza, Palestine and Israel through donations to the Friends of the Holy Land Appeal.
Elmley Castle, Bricklehampton and The Combertons PCC has successfully applied to the Kingdom People Fund for a grant to purchase a contactless giving machine.
The Stewardship and Resources team at the diocesan office, along with Eleanor Stead from the National Church, are running a training course for PCCs who might want to run a campaign to encourage legacies this autumn.

The Forge group of churches are in a highly populated but very deprived area, with parishioners in the bottom 10% of the country economically. However, during 2022 they were able to considerably increase their income, helped in part by the move to Ministry Share.
Robyn Rooney has been appointed as part-time Stewardship Officer, working from the diocesan office and in parishes to offer support with the Parish Giving Scheme as well as helping with fundraising ideas.
Severnside parishes, on the edge of Worcester have been fundraising to help the parish of Chamwino in Morogoro, Tanzania to provide two classrooms so local children can attend school.
