Melissa Rose is a Reader or Licensed Lay Minister (LLM) in Dudley. She was one of our first LLMs to be trained at Queen’s Theological college and was licensed in September 2015.
Last month St Peter’s in Bengeworth opened a Community Café inside the church called ‘The Point’. The café opens every Tuesday morning and aims to be a welcoming space for those who might not have been in the church before.
St Andrew's Church in Malvern has a new worshipping community called ‘Early Birds’ aimed at families with young children. Recently, one of the parents that attends, shared her testimony on how Early Birds brought her on her own faith journey.
On Wednesday 9 October we hosted a one-day ‘Smaller Churches Conference’ at The Pear Tree Inn, Worcester. The conference was attended by almost 90 delegates from smaller churches across the Diocese.
Top Church (St Thomas & St Luke’s Church) held a heritage Open Day on Saturday 7th September to showcase their innovative Digital Tour which aims to share the history of the church and the role it has played in supporting the residents of Dudley.
‘Experience Dudley’ is a faith, community and heritage project that started as a pilot at Top Church in 2022, partnering with one local school. Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, this year staff have been able to expand it to partner with three local schools, reaching close to 1000 children.
Jess Fellows is Associate vicar at All Saints in Worcester where she is ‘Student and 20s Missioner’. Her role is a five year post funded by the national church as part of All Saints’ resourcing church.
Mission Accompaniers are available to come alongside parishes to offer tailored support. Nick Gowers had been vicar nine years, when in 2022, Chris Bright became his Mission Accompanier.
Children, youth and family work is thriving at St Andrew’s church in Malvern with over 100 children and young people on their books and over 50 attending most Sundays.
‘YouNite’ is a new youth group for 10 to 18-year-olds in Evesham which has been set up as an ecumenical collaboration between different churches in the town. It is currently attracting around 25 young people each Friday evening.
Lightbox is a pop-up initiative run by a collaboration of churches in Worcester. It aims to provide a safe space and opportunities for young people to build community with each other through fun activities, discussion groups and challenges.
Bishop Martin joined the congregation of St John’s Church in Kates Hill, Dudley last Sunday to bless their new community space.
After being closed for almost a year to allow a major re-ordering project to take place, St Helen’s on the High Street in Worcester was formally re-opened on Tuesday 3 October by Bishop John.
Dave Shaw, the Director of Worship at Top Church in Dudley, has produced a CD of music ahead of helping to lead the music team at the Walsingham Youth Pilgrimage next week.
The Bishop of Worcester is pleased to announce the appointment of The Revd James Ellin as Associate Vicar of All Saints in Worcester.
James Treasure to become Rector and Sarah Carwardine to be Vicar in the Dudley Team. Both are based at Top Church.
Recently, over 330 children from Jesson’s CE Primary School visited Top Church for an ‘Experience Dudley’ week. The school’s entire Key Stage 2 visited the church over 4 days to learn about faith and the role of the church community throughout the town’s history.
The Revive Learning Centre at Top Church, Dudley, operated by the Invictus Education Trust, will offer alternative provision to vulnerable students who find mainstream school difficult.
On Sunday afternoon, Bishop Martin visited St Peter’s Church in Bengeworth to commission the people for a new chapter as they officially launched the renewal project at the church.
A new service has launched at St James’ Church in Norton juxta Kempsey with support from our Resourcing Church, All Saints in Worcester.
