A statement from Bishop Martin following the publication of the Makin report and the resignation of the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd Justin Welby.
The independent review by Keith Makin into the Church of England’s handling of allegations of serious abuse by the late John Smyth has been published.
The recent independent audit of safeguarding practices in the Diocese of Worcester and Worcester Cathedral has highlighted good practice and commended the ‘solid foundation for a safeguarding culture that prioritises the well-being of individuals and fosters a safer environment for everyone in the diocese'.
On Sunday 17 November 2024 join thousands of churches from diverse backgrounds and traditions across the UK to shout about safeguarding and help protect vulnerable people.

Claire Arden has been appointed as the new Assistant Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser following the retirement of Sarah Booth. Claire will work with Hilary and Delia in the safeguarding team, providing safeguarding support and advice across the Diocese.
