Job description:

Great Malvern Priory are looking for an Operations Manager to join their team.

The main summary of the role includes:

  • To successfully manage the business and administrative aspects of the Priory to enable clergy and others to minister to the congregation and the wider community.
  • To effectively manage the paid support staff.
  • To help deliver the published Vision and Strategy for the organisation, being part of the Management Team and the Priory Development Plan Steering Committee.

The work involved in the role may vary depending on the vision and priorities set by the PCC. Specific tasks may include:

  • Strategic planning
  • Policy Review
  • Internal and external communications
  • Acting as Parish Safeguarding Officer (with appropriate training)
  • Staff Management, including volunteers
  • Administration and office systems
  • Commercial and Community events
  • Health and Safety Risk management.

Person Specification:

We are looking for someone with good interpersonal skills who understands the importance of treating all with respect and fairness. A practicing Christian who is a regular attender and member of a church. The ideal candidate would be able to work collaboratively with Clergy, staff, volunteers and others and able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, with a good knowledge of IT systems.

Great Malvern Priory:

Great Malvern Priory is a vibrant major church in the centre of Great Malvern with some 400 members of the congregation, three services each Sunday, other weekday services and with an average weekly attendance of 250. Apart from the regular and well-attended services of worship in a variety of styles, it is supported by a rich and varied musical tradition. The building is used by local schools, hosts orchestral and choir concerts, plays and regular programmes of lectures and organ recitals.

 

Attracting around 40,000 visitors a year, the Priory is one of the finest historic parish churches in England. Its exceptional architectural, art historical, archaeological, and historic importance is recognised in its Grade I listing.

Location and Hours of the Role:

37.5 hours per week, which will include some weekend and evening (approximately one per fortnight) working as necessary.

 

The main location of the role is Great Malvern Priory, Church Street, Malvern, WR14 2AY. However, flexible working can be arranged by agreement, although core hours, based on the priory site, would be expected to be 10:00- 16:00 each working day. Travel to attend external meeting may be required as necessary.

 

Names and addresses of two referees will be required, one of whom should be the candidate’s current or recent minister and the other a professional referee. 

 

The appointment will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate being issued, and thereafter with regular updates.
