Gareth Doodes, Headmaster at the King's School in Worcester, has been appointed as the new voluntary Chair of the Diocesan Advisory Committee for the Care of Churches (DAC).
It is with sadness that we report the death of David Hawkins last Thursday following a long illness.
Bishop John has announced the appointment of Lindsey Coulthard as Priest in Charge of St Stephen's Church in Barbourne, Worcester.
The Revd Nancy Murray-Peters died on 30 September, peacefully at St Richard’s Hospice.
The Archdeacon of Worcester, Robert Jones will retire on 30 November. There will be a chance to say goodbye and thank you to Robert at Evensong in the Cathedral at 4pm on 19 November.
Ten candidates were ordained as Deacons on Sunday to serve in parishes across the Diocese. The candidates have been part of a new training pathway aimed at those who see their vocation as being non-stipendiary (voluntary) ministers to churches in their local area.
Five people from parishes across the Diocese were admitted to the office of Reader on Saturday in Worcester Cathedral. Bishop John conducted the service, licensing the individuals to minister in the parishes they have been called to serve.
Bishop John has announced that the Revd Canon Mark Badger is to be the next Archdeacon of Worcester.
15 candidates were ordained over the weekend to serve in parishes across the Diocese.
The Revd Joanna Baxter has been announced as the new Priest in Charge of the Benefice of East Vale and Avon Villages.
The Revd Andy Todd has been appointed as the new Diocesan Secretary for the Diocese of Worcester.
Bishop John is pleased to announce the appointment of the Revd Nigel Traynor as Part-time Interim Priest in Charge of St Mark’s, Pensnett.
The Revd Christopher Henson has been appointed as Team Vicar with responsibility for Lapal, St Peter and Romsley, St Kenelm in the Halas Team Ministry.
This year’s ordinations will take place over the weekend of 1 and 2 July. Do pray for and support all those who will be ordained either Deacon or Priest over the weekend.
David Morris to become Priest in Charge of the Benefice of Abberley, Shrawley & Witleys and the Benefice of Teme Valley North, working alongside neighbouring benefices as part of the emerging Rural Mission Area.
James Treasure to become Rector and Sarah Carwardine to be Vicar in the Dudley Team. Both are based at Top Church.
Bishop John is pleased to announce the appointment of The Revd Ian Perry as Priest in Charge of the Benefice of Inkberrow, Cookhill, Kington and Dormston.
Rich Johnson, Vicar of All Saints in Worcester is to be the new National Leader of New Wine, a network of evangelical churches in England. Rich will take on the role from May. He will be seconded to New Wine for 45% of his time while continuing to work in our Resourcing Church for the other 55%.
Hazel Charlton, while remaining Team Rector of the Halas Team, will be moving to take responsibility for St John’s Halesowen.
Robin Parry is to be licensed to Worcester Cathedral as an associate priest with a remit for eco-spirituality, exploring the intersection of spirituality, worship, and ecology.
