St Stephens Redditch holds prayer breakfast focusing on Renewal

Attendees enjoy coffee, chat and bacon buttiesSt Stephens in Redditch held a prayer breakfast focusing on their Renewal journey.

The event was also attended by members of All Saints church in Worcester and provided the opportunity to pray together as they look to work collaboratively, as church family.

Fraser Oates who has been Assistant Curate at All Saints in Worcester will shortly be moving to Redditch to take up the role of Renewal Leader for the church there. He is due to be licensed by Bishop Martin on 15 September.

At the prayer breakfast the churchwardens made bacon butties, and everyone met for a coffee and chat. They then sung a worship song together.

Prayer stations were set up around the church themed by each of the four headlines from the vision statement that Fraser Oates, Paul Lawlor and their team have put together. These are:

  1. Worshipping God Passionately - To be a church of lively, creative, and faithful Christian worship.
  2. Following Jesus Faithfully - To be a church where Christian faith is nurtured, and disciples mature.
  3. Loving One Another Radically - To be a church where real Christian community is fostered.
  4. Sharing Hope Courageously - To be a church committed to loving the local community and bearing witness to the Christian gospel.

The team wanted the event to be interactive, so attendees were invited to move around the prayer stations and write down their thoughts, sharing any prophetic words, passages from scripture or anything else that came to mind.

Churchwarden Elaine Whitfield said:

“We held a lovely prayer breakfast at St Stephen's! It was great to enjoy a tasty meal together and share prayers with Fraser, Paul and our new friends from All Saints' Church in Worcester.”

“It was a special time to connect as a community and focus on the renewal of our church and its future.  We’ll continue to support each other as we move forward on this journey.”
