One of the Worcester Deanery’s Priorities is prayer and, following the positive response to last year’s ’No Limits!’ event, the Deanery is hosting another one in September.
The Diocesan Criminal Justice Affairs Group offers this bi-monthly prayer guide which we hope will be useful for personal and intercessory prayer in local parishes. This edition focusses on substance abuse.
Next Thursday and Friday – 12 & 13 June – the Crown Nominations Committee (CNC) will be interviewing for our next Bishop of Worcester. Please help us to surround the process with prayer.
This year, Vocations Sunday falls on Sunday 11 May.
Today, on Ash Wednesday, following a service to mark the start of Lent and the giving of Ashes at Church of the Ascension in Wall Heath, Mission Priest Sarah Roberts-Malpass and Curate Chris Smith, visited the nearby high street to offer ‘Ashes to go’ to passersby.
Archdeacon Nikki was asked to preach in the Cathedral on St Oswald's feast day last week. Her sermon provides some fascinating insights into the former Bishop of Worcester, particularly as we continue to pray for the current process to appoint our next Bishop!
During May and June, the Crown Nominations Commission will be shortlisting and interviewing candidates to become the next Bishop of Worcester and during this time, we really need your prayers!
As a paid Children and Families’ worker at Pershore Abbey (funded in part with a grant from the Healthier Churches Fund), Sam Andrews has been able to expand the Abbey’s work with children, families and schools in the local area.

A group from the benefice of Ribbesford w Bewdley & Dowles & Wribbenhall used Black History Month in October as an opportunity to explore the book, ‘Tarry Awhile: Wisdom from Black Spirituality for People of Faith’ by Selina Stone.

On the 11 September, Worcester Deanery put on their first “No Limits” prayer event. Churches and members of the diocesan team came together to offer an evening of worship and prayer.

Christian Aid is inviting people to join its monthly online event - Prayers for Peace in the Middle East. Christians from all over the UK have been taking part in the regular Zoom calls which happen on the 24th of each month.
St Stephens in Redditch held a prayer breakfast focusing on their Renewal journey. Fraser Oates who has been Assistant Curate at All Saints in Worcester will shortly be moving to Redditch to take up the role of Renewal Leader.
Bishop Martin visited St Oswald's CE Primary School in Kidderminster yesterday to officially open their new prayer garden. The garden was created thanks to the efforts and generosity of the school community and was opened with a special ceremony.
