The latest Bishop’s teaching morning was focussed on setting out a prophetic challenge to climate and economic injustice.
Twenty children from St Barnabas CE Primary represented the Diocese of Worcester at the Festival of Flourishing in London last week.
A service of celebration for Authorised Lay Ministers (ALMs) was held at the Cathedral on Saturday 24 January. This year’s ALMs have been trained to become children and youth work ministers, worship leaders or New Worshipping Community (NWC) ministers.
Racial Justice Sunday takes place this year on Sunday 8 February and two parishes in the Diocese are planning special services to mark the occasion using the resources available from Churches Together in Britain and Ireland.
Bishop Hugh’s first Monday as Bishop of Worcester saw him spending time with two schools. He presented Broadheath CE Primary School and Lower Broadheath Church with a silver Church and School Partnership Award before visiting Wolverley CE Secondary School in Kidderminster where he met with some of the pupils.
Bishop Hugh has presented the Revd Dick Johnson with the Cross of St. Wulfstan. This award pays tribute to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the Church’s ministry in the Diocese of Worcester.

St George’s CE Primary School and St George’s Church in the parish of Kidderminster East are the first to receive a gold Church and School Partnership Award. It was presented to them by Bishop Martin at a special assembly at the school.
There is a tradition of blessing chalk at Epiphany to mark the threshold of our homes with a new year blessing. Doug Chaplin, Discipleship and Lay Training Officer has produced some simple prayers for you to do this at home or at church.
Many people will come into our churches for Christmas services who might not attend at other times of the year. This provides great opportunities including informing your local community of exciting things coming up. Here are some ways in which our renewal churches are planning to do that.
A new service for families has been launched at St James’ the Great Church in Blakedown, just outside of Kidderminster, using iSingPOP songs and the PopBox resource. The launch event for iSing Blakedown last Sunday attracted 18 children and around 40 adults to the small church.
