Doug Chaplin has taken on the role of Bishop’s Adviser for Worship and Liturgy.
The diocesan Mission and Ministry Team helps to equip and enable people to follow God’s call in their lives and better serve their communities. The team offers learning and training opportunities for people throughout the Diocese, wherever they are in their discipleship journey.
Bishop John recently presented Canon Paul Tongue with the Cross of St Wulfstan in recognition of his exceptional service to the Diocese of Worcester over many years. The award was presented to Paul while he was in hospital ahead of his sad death on Tuesday 30 January.
Last weekend saw the first meeting of a new learning community for leaders of new worshipping communities and their teams in parishes across the Diocese.
A new cross-diocesan appointment will see Gemma Martin become the next Diocesan Director of Education for Hereford Diocese and our Diocesan Director of Education, Tim Reid supporting Gemma as Executive Director of Education across both dioceses.
The process of appointing a new Dean of Worcester continues to move forward with confirmation of the names of those who will sit on the panel.
Bishop John has appointed Andrew Sillis to be the new Area Dean of Greater Dudley Deanery and Gary Crellin to be the new Area Dean of Malvern and Upton Deanery.
David Hewlett has become the new Chair of the diocesan Climate Crisis Task Group. He takes over from Bishop Martin, who has been Interim Chair since the retirement of Hugh Burton at the start of the year.
Rosie Moss and Kim Topham have been appointed as co-Deans of Self-Supporting Ordained Ministers (SSMs) for the Diocese. They are taking over from previous Dean of SSMs, Alex Vaccaro.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, will visit our Diocese on Saturday 3 February to bring us together in prayer.
People from across the Diocese have received a certificate from Bishop Martin, marking the completion of a course designed to help them relate their Christian faith to their own life and locality.

Gareth Doodes, Headmaster at the King's School in Worcester, has been appointed as the new voluntary Chair of the Diocesan Advisory Committee for the Care of Churches (DAC).
Wadham Downing, a member of the Cathedral congregation, has been appointed as the next volunteer Chair of the Board of Finance for the Diocese of Worcester. He was nominated by Bishop John at the last diocesan synod meeting following an application and interview process and his appointment was overwhelmingly approved by synod members.
The Archdeacon of Worcester, Robert Jones will retire on 30 November. There will be a chance to say goodbye and thank you to Robert at Evensong in the Cathedral at 4pm on 19 November.
Ten candidates were ordained as Deacons on Sunday to serve in parishes across the Diocese. The candidates have been part of a new training pathway aimed at those who see their vocation as being non-stipendiary (voluntary) ministers to churches in their local area.
