Partnership continues to support Morogoro school

Children standing outside the Kempsey 2 classroom at Chamwino nursery schoolSt Mary’s Church in Kempsey has a longstanding link with St Paul's Anglican Church in Chamwino, in our partner diocese of Morogoro, Tanzania. Over the past few years they have been supporting Chamwino Nursery School.

Jan Venables and her husband Peter lead on the partnership between the two dioceses. Jan writes:

New water tower outside Chamwino nursery school“On Bishop John’s last visit to Morogoro, he officially opened classrooms Kempsey1 and Kempsey 2 at Chamwino Nursery School, which had been funded by donations and fundraising events by St Mary's Church and friends. Last year we continued our fundraising with concerts and social events to provide a water supply and improved sanitation for the children at the nursery school.

New toilet block at Chamwino nurseryWe are delighted that this project is now completed, and the school now has running water, two new toilet blocks, a septic tank and a water storage tank. This was all completed on time and under budget!

When Peter and I visited in 2019 they were just starting to build the second classroom as numbers of pupils were growing. Now five years later, both classes have over 50 children attending and they have now been given permission to build two more classrooms hopefully by the end of June this year.

We are extremely proud to have been part of this project, to have this link with our friends in Chamwino and will continue our support both in prayer and fundraising for the benefit of those children.”

St Paul’s Anglican Church Chamwino are looking for second hand chalices. If your church has anything that could perhaps we sent, please get in touch with Jan Venables.
