Ordinations 2018

Over the weekend of 30 June/ 1 July, 14 people will beordained to serve in parishes across the Diocese.

12 candidates will be ordained Deacon in the Cathedral onSaturday 30 June and are entering their first year of training as a curate. Afurther two candidates have completed their first year and will be ordainedPriest in their parishes on Sunday 1 July; after which they will be able to preside at the Holy Communion.

Bishop John will ordain the Deacons, while Bishop Grahamwill ordain the two Priests. Archdeacon Rick Simpson, Archdeacon of Auckland inthe Diocese of Durham will be preaching having led the pre-ordination retreatfor candidates.

Ordained deacon:

  • Adam Hadley, who will serve at St Thomas inStourbridge
  • Andy Smith, who will serve at All Saints inWorcester
  • Chris Sheehan, who will serve in the ArchBenefice, Evesham (Church Lench with Rous Lench & Abbots Morton &Harvington)
  • Jen Dennison, who will serve in the WestWorcestershire Rural Team
  • Julia Quinn, who will serve in Stourport onSevern and Wilden
  • Peter Myres, who will serve in the Chase Team,Malvern (St Andrews & All Saints, Malvern Wells & Wyche)
  • Rich Hackett, who will serve at Holy Trinity,Old Hill
  • Robin Parry, who will serve in the WorcesterSouth East Team
  • Timothy Hupfield, who will serve in Badsey withAldington & Offenham & Bretforton
  • Sue Adeney, who will serve in Upton-on-Severn,Ripple, Earls Croome w Hill Croome & Strensham as well as Hanley Castle,Hanley Swan & Welland
  • Janet Hatton, who will serve at St John,Bromsgrove
  • Jo Williamson, who will serve in Broadway,Evesham

Ordained Priest:

  • Becky Elliott serving in the West WorcestershireRural Team
  • Paula Honniball serving at St John the Baptist,Claines & St George Worcester

Service details:

The ordination of Deacons will take place at 2pm in the Cathedral. 

The ordination of Priests will take place in their own parishes: 

  • Becky Elliott, 10.30am in Martley Church
  • Paula Honniball, 4pm in Claines Church

The ordinations are non-ticketed (except for close family and friends of the candidates) and all are welcome. Clergy are invited to robe for the service, as are friends and family members who are ordained, or licensed.

  • Dress for clergy: cassock, surplice, white stole.
  • For readers: cassock, surplice, preaching scarf.
  • For ecumenical colleagues: as appropriate to their tradition.
