Creating digital content for Christmas using free resources

Published: 9th November 2023

Mel Beynon, Curate in the Halas Team, spent an afternoon exploring the free resources available from the Church of England and found them to be really helpful.

The Church of Engand Resources Youtube channel features quick how-to-guides and inspirational talks to support you with evangelism and discipleship, digital communications, giving and generosity, church leadership, fresh expressions, environmental programs, life events and more.

After browsing the collection of training videos, Mel said, "They’re in a friendly style with clear instructions and tips on how to do lots of different things, such as use A Church Near You to its fullest, set up and use a church Instagram account, or add a QR code to a Canva design. They’re also in really short chunks of a few mins each, so they’re easy to dip in and out of, and you can search for a topic you’re interested in."

The Church of England's "Digital Labs" is a hub of free resources, news and events to support digital evangelism and digital discipleship in your church. In the run up to Christmas, be sure to check out the blogs to help you with planning your digital content throughout Advent and get your ACNY page set up with your Christmas services and events. See links below.

Mel added, "I’ll certainly be looking at the resources again, with all the information on using social media for evangelism and discipleship, I already feel I’ve learnt something!"

Add and tag your Advent and Christmas services and events on A Church Near You

Millions of people will use AChurchNearYou.com this December - and 80% of visitors to the site are there for the first time. You can use ACNY to promote your services and events this Christmas – all for free. If you haven't already, now is the perfect time to list your services and events, using the tag 'Advent' or 'Christmas'. You can also use other relevant tags like 'Christmas Eve', 'Christmas carols', 'Christingle', ‘Nativity’ and even 'Mulled wine' or 'Mince pies' to help people find the right service for them. Read a step by step guide to listing your services here.
