The service is organised bythe Chaplaincy for Agriculture and Rural Life (CARL) and the preacher will be HowardPetch, CBE who is Chairman of Germinate, formerly Principal of Bishop BurtonCollege, Chief Executive of Landex and Vice Chair of the Farming CommunityNetwork.There will be a procession byWorcestershire Young Farmers, who will bring various gifts to the altar. Prayerswill be offered focussing on the concerns of a range of organisations involvedin farming and rural life. There will also be a collection for the FarmingCommunity Network, a voluntary organisation and charity that supports farmersand families within the farming community through difficult times.
Chair of CARL, Nick Evanssaid: The harvest celebration is an important one for the farming communityand all people involved in rural life. Its an opportunity to come together andthank God for our crops and livestock at a time when hopefully the harvest hasbeen safely gathered in. Wed be delighted for people to come and join us atthis special service and help celebrate our beautiful countryside and all thosewho work in it for all our benefit.
All are welcome to the Harvestfestival, which will feature traditional and more modern hymns of thanks and ananthem by the Cathedral Voluntary Choir. There will be light refreshmentsavailable afterwards in College Hall.
