The Dean and Bishop John with Bishops Godfrey and JorgeBishop Jorge Luis Aguilar of Peru and Bishop Godfrey Sehaba of Morogoro were both welcomed to the Diocese at this morning's service in Worcester Cathedral. The bishops of our partnership link dioceses are in the Diocese ahead of attending the Lambeth Conference later this week.

Bishop Godfrey preachingBishop Godfrey preached at the service, expressing his thanks to Bishop John and the Dean and bringing greetings from all in Morogoro. He joked that 15 minutes was much shorter than his normal sermons in Morogoro in Tanzania! He preached on the topic of the Lord's Prayer, reminding us that 'God is kinder than any parent and will answer our prayers. We should be people of prayer as Jesus was."

Bishop JorgeAfter the service, Bishop Jorge was also able to say a few words, thanking everyone in our diocese for their continued love and prayers. He said that Peru had been hit very hard by the pandemic and there had been many deaths, including that of his own father and it was reassuring to know that we are praying for them as they pray for us.

The Dean of Worcester, Peter Atkinson presented both bishops with a letter from the Cathedral community, passing on their greetings to the cathedral communities in both Peru and Morogoro.

Bishops Jorge and Godfrey will remain in the Diocese for a couple of days before travelling down to the Lambeth Conference being held in Canterbury with Bishops John and Martin.
