Three generation skydive

The clifford family in their harnesses after finishing their skydiveThree generations of the Clifford family recently took part in a skydive to raise money for Cancer Research and to help repair the clock at Claines Church.

"I wanted to do something special to celebrate my 80th birthday," said Derry Clifford of Fernhill Heath. He organised a skydive and persuaded members of his family, Douglas, Jessica and Rob to join him and in doing so to all raise money for charity.

The skydive, which involves tandem jumping using a parachute, took place on 26 July at Hinton airfield in Northamptonshire. After landing, Derry said that it was an amazing experience that he will always remember, and he was so pleased that both of his sons and his granddaughter joined him.

"We are so very proud of them and their achievement," said Sarah Carwardine, Priest in Charge of Claines Church. "The money raised will be shared between Cancer Research and towards replacing the church clock which Derry looks after".
