Stanford on Teme Christmas Tree festival

Published: 27th November 2023

An arch of hanging angels in the entrance to Stanford churchOnce again, on the first weekend in December, St Mary’s Church at Stanford will be filled with a wonderful array of 25 Christmas trees as they hold their annual festival.

Journey through an ‘Arch of Angels’ and help raise funds for both the Church and a local charity - Nineveh Ridge Care Farm.

Church member, John Curtis said:

“Around half of the trees are being decorated by children from the local schools, nurseries and tots groups from across the Teme Valley and beyond; it’s great to see the look of excitement and joy on their faces when they come into decorate on the Friday, and then when they come back with their families over the weekend to see the full display.  There will also be trees from each of the churches in Teme Valley South, with churches from Clifton, Harpley and the Shelsleys joining in for the first time.   A number of the local businesses and families also come along and decorate a tree – a great sense of coming together of the local area to celebrate Christmas.”

There will be refreshments available and activities for children to make a tree decoration and hang it up too.

The Sanford on Teme Christmas Tree Festival will be open from 1pm to 7pm on Saturday 2 December, and 11am to 4pm on Sunday 3 December.  The festival will finish with carol singing on Sunday from 4pm to 5pm.
