St James the Great, Norton Juxta Kempsey, receive funding for urgent repairs to enable mission

Grade II listed St James the GreatChurch in Norton Juxta Kempsey will undergo essential repairs and modernisationfollowing grants totalling 32,250 provided by the All Churches Trust, the GarfieldWeston Foundation and the National Churches Trust.

Grants from the Garfield WestonFoundation and the National Churches Trust will enable urgent repairs to the 12thcentury churchs tower and roof, making it watertight and in turn helping toremove it from Historic Englands At Risk Register.

The Revd Mark Badger, Vicar of St Jamesthe Great, said, Were delighted that weve received this support from theGarfield Weston Foundation and the National Churches Trust. St James has beenat the centre of the community in Norton since medieval times and its great toknow that we are a step closer to preserving it for future generations.

St James the Great have also received a grant of 2,250from the All Churches Trust towards the installation of new heating andlighting systems. Improved heating will allow for the church building to beused throughout the year, enabling wider community use of the building andgreater creativity in the provision of mission and outreach events.

This funding affords us a wonderfulopportunity not only to honour and celebrate our history and heritage, but,perhaps more importantly, to add new chapters to it! Mark continued. We arecommitted to making St James fit for purpose as a spiritual and communityresource, to making our church not only a sacred place but also a shared space,where community can be celebrated and strengthened for generations to come.

Numerous churches, chapels and charitiesin the UK will benefit from the latest grants from various organisations likethe National Churches Trust, to help tackle urgent repairs, carry out essentialmaintenance and install modern facilities such as toilets and kitchens.
