St Barnabas, Worcester becomes an Eco Church!

StBarnabas Church, Worcester is now an ECO Church having recently been awarded aBronze Award.

Vicar, Julieann Watson, tells us all about it:

Weare an urban church and have been asked how we did this. Surrounded by so muchof the built environment we wondered if we could be involved with the call tobe ECO and make any difference at all. So, by simply getting together andhaving a look a the A Rocha UK checklist, we were able tick off what we doalready (and there was more than we at first realised) and make a plan ofaction on the rest.

Itfelt a relief that as well as buildings and how they are insulated, heated andlit, it was also about the land around it, and how we looked after that; alsoour worship and lifestyle and how we engage with what everyone else is doinglocally, nationally and even globally in order to protect the environment andcelebrate the created order. Our Award has encouraged us to keep going and sowe will, beginning with our first formally arranged Litter Pick with those ofthe community. We want to keep going and develop who we are in relationshipwith our environment, encouraging others to think of the same.

Eastertide andnew life is a good time to think about all this. Go for it!
