Singing Angels at The Straits, Dudley

Singing Angels is a singing group for children aged 3+ heldat St Andrews Church in the Straits, Dudley. It was set up in October 2016 by Claire Cox who was supported by thechurch congregation when her son was in hospital for many months after he wasborn. The group has gone from strength to strength - the team now run a separatesession for older children and have a waiting list for all ages.

Claire said: I really wanted to give something back to thechurch which had supported us so well. I have a background in amateurdramatics, so setting up a fun singing group seemed like a really good idea.

All are welcome to the group, which is run free of charge.Children aged 3+ sing for an hour from 4pm each Sunday with those age 8+ stayingfor a further half hour from 5 5.30pm.The group sing a range of songs from pop to Christian songs andChristmas carols. They hold regular showcases for family members to come andlisten as well as singing at fetes and events in the local area.

Part of our remit is to share our faith with others andencourage young people to be part of our church family continued Claire. Thechildren are all enthusiastic and eager to learn and key Christian messages aredelivered every week and enjoyed. The children's excitement to read a prayer hasbeen overwhelming, such that we are now taking it in turns in alphabeticalorder so everyone gets a turn!

It genuinely feels like a fresh expression of church. Imjust amazed at what a huge success its been. With 30 children coming regularly,we reach many more families than would come to a traditional church service ona Sunday morning and its great to see everyone coming together to have fun andshare the good news of Jesus through our singing group!
