Praying for the city of Worcester

Each Saturday between 10pm and midnight, a small ecumenical group meets at the Salvation Army Hall in Worcester to pray for the city and especially the Street Pastors who are out around the town.

Another united prayer group meets on the second Tuesday of the month at City Church (Lindisfarne House, Barbourne, Worcester), to pray for numerous topics, cities and nations. Each session begins with worship, before moving into the specific time of prayer and reflection. Often, the group will also share prayers for initiatives planned to take place in the city.

Sue Gillgan, founder of the groups, said: Praying with people from different churches is especially powerful. We lay down our differences and seek God together to hear His heart and release His prayers for our city. Gathering together to pray is a great way to help bring unity.

All are welcome to go along and join the prayer groups.

If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray [] I will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7.14)

Diocesan Small Churches Choir

11th November 2025

At the celebration service for small churches service held in the Cathedral last May, a number of singers expressed a wish to be able to sing together more often. Mark and Linda Blackwell from Fladbury (Nr Evesham) felt called to use their experience to try to set up a choir made up from singers from the small churches across the Diocese to sing at occasional services at Worcester and other cathedrals.
