Our Ministry Experience Scheme

Melissa, Jonathan and Peter have lived in a vicarage in Dudley since September, praying together and getting practical experience of what its like to be a vicar in a parish. All three have been discerning their calling to ordination.

Peter said: It has been a fantastic way to be able toexperience ministry. Ive had the opportunity to be with people through thetoughest and the best times of their life. There is an incredible sense ofcommunity in the Black Country. I feel like Ive been invited into the familyand its been awesome to be part of that.

The three participants have lived together and say eveningprayer together daily. Melissa said: Taking the time to pause each evening aswe say the psalms together has really helped me to look at the bible in adifferent way. Its brought the word of God into my innermost life.

Jonathan said: Its been really enriching to learn fromeach others traditions and spirituality as we come together to pray. And itsbeen brilliant to be involved in the full breadth of parish life. Its allowedus time and space to reflect on who we are and Ive learnt a great deal overthe last few months.
