New Worshipping Community in Worcester care home

A group of residents at Perry Wood care home with members of St Matthews ChurchHoly Trinity & St Matthew's Church in Ronkswood, Worcester has started a new worshipping community in a local care home, which they also plan to take to other venues in the local community.

The Church has been working with a Mission Accompanier for nearly a year and the team have identified several new projects which have contributed to their Health and Sustainability Plan.

C3 (Cake, Chat & Church), will be taken into numerous different venues in Ronkswood over the coming months. Church members join with residents firstly for some good cake and a good chat before they join in with a craft activity which has a Christian theme. There is a bible reading, a prayer and a hymn to end. The sessions are not unlike Messy Vintage.

The first session was at Perry Manor Care Home who provided the cake and coffee. St Matthew’s provided the craft materials and the company. The Revd Rob Farmer said, “It was great to see the residents having such a good time and we learnt so much about their lives, interests, families, and hobbies.”

Pictured are some of the residents and church members making scarecrows which had a wooden cross as its centre – a reminder that God is at the heart of all things.
