New Registrar appointed

Kirsty DuxburyBishop John has appointed Kirsty Duxbury as the next Diocesan Registrar. She will take on the role from 25 July.

The Diocesan Registrar is a solicitor and is the legal officer for the Diocese of Worcester, giving general legal advice to clergy, parish officers, boards and councils and overseeing the faculty system which enables churches to make changes to their buildings.

Kirsty is currently Deputy Registrar at the Diocese of Blackburn, and will be based at Anthony Collins solicitors, who will provide additional legal services to support both the Bishop and the Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF).  The new Deputy Registrar for the Diocese will be Lisa Moncur, currently Registrar for the Dioceses of Blackburn and Chester.

Kirsty said:

“I am extremely honoured to be appointed to this important role and very much look forward to working with the Bishop and the diocesan team. It is a privilege to be able to help and support the clergy, lay workers and volunteers in carrying out the mission of the Church.”

Liz Matthews, Registry Clerk, is employed by the DBF and will transfer to work from the Diocesan Office in Worcester.

This is a significant moment in the life of the Worcester Diocesan Registry, as Stallard, March and Edwards (SME) in their various phases of development have provided legal advice and hosted the Diocesan Registry for over 100 years.

Bishop John said "There will be time to mark this properly in due course, but I want to place on record my sincere thanks to Stuart Ness and all his colleagues at SME. Stuart and his predecessors have served the diocese faithfully for a very substantial period of time. They have processed thousands of faculties, licences and pastoral schemes and their work leaves a significant stamp on the life of our diocese."
