At the beginning of the year Mothers’ Union began a new triennium, with a new Diocesan President and Trustee Board.
Their new Diocesan President is Jill Crofton, from Great Malvern Priory Mothers’ Union, who will serve alongside two Vice Presidents - Gwen Clifford from Claines Mothers’ Union for the Worcester Archdeaconry and Maryanne Cox from Norton, Stourbridge Mothers’ Union for the Dudley Archdeaconry.
Jill said: "We have a firm hope in God our Father who will gently lead us into the next “triennium”- that is, the next three years of loving service to him, to our communities, to our churches, and to each other. We have our fellow members, our families and our friends to support us in each new endeavour. We have a worldwide network of women and men all passionate about putting our faith into action in our own situations, and sharing our stories with each other. Let’s listen prayerfully together to the Holy Spirit’s voice in the next few months."
Jill was born “up north” in Morpeth, in Northumberland, where her Mum was a keen MU member. She is married to Ted, who is a (now retired) vicar, and they live in Malvern and go to Great Malvern Priory. Jill and Ted have three adult children in their forties, and five fun grandchildren aged 11-19. Jill trained as a teacher of French and German and still loves working with children and young people. Ted and she enjoy walking on the Malvern Hills.
Everyone is welcome to attend a Commissioning Service for the new team on Wednesday 19 February, 2pm at Great Malvern Priory. Bishop Martin will lead the service and commission Jill and 12 trustees to serve for the next three years.
