Joyful Light Trail event for families in Claines

Claines played host to a joyful family ‘Light Trail’ during the half term holiday, which 90 people participated in. Ten households in Claines decorated their homes as “light stops,” each displaying a word that formed part of a Bible verse, for participants to unscramble. Light events celebrate Jesus as the light of the world, as an alternative to Halloween.Claines light trail

Children, Youth and Families Minister Heather Murphy said:

“Families started at Claines Parish Hall, where they received a glow necklace and a map of the trail. The walk took about 45 minutes, and along the way, children unscrambled the words to reveal the verse:

“Jesus said, I am the light of the world.” – John 8:12”

Once they completed the trail, each child received a prize—a Scripture Union book (either What Next? or Jesus is the Light? ), a scratch-art keyring or bookmark.

They ended the evening with hot chocolate and hot dogs in the fairy-lit church hall.

Heather added:

“We had 47 children and young people (aged 0–18) join in and it was a really joyful event!”
