Kirsty Pierson has been recruited by iSingPOP and seconded to the Diocese to work with seven churches initially as part of a pilot project to strengthen links between schools and churches, bringing local families into this one community.
Kirsty has only worked for iSingPOP since the start of January. She is from Middlesbrough originally and grew up in a Christian family, coming to faith herself at Spring Harvest when she was nine. She moved to the West Midlands in 2018 originally to do an internship with Christian theatre company Saltmine, based in Dudley.
Kirsty said:
“I have a very creative background. I have loved performing since I was a child. I did dance and ballet from when I was 5 years old, then later got into drama clubs and singing. I’m a classically trained singer and I studied Applied Theology with Performing arts at Regents Theological College.
“When I realised, I could combine my love of performing with serving God, that’s been my heart ever since and I’ve just gone wherever God has called me. It’s such a blessing when you feel like God sees your heart and opens just the right doors for you at just the right time.”
“I first saw the iSingPOP Praise Team perform at Big Church Festival quite a few years ago and thought what they did there was brilliant! I just love their mission and feel in many respects it’s the perfect role for me given my background with Saltmine Theatre company and also the Worcester based Christian theatre group ‘4Front’ who I recently toured with.”
“My role in this pilot is to look at how iSingPOP resources can be used strategically to help build-up and support children and families work within churches in the diocese of Worcester. This year I will be working closely with seven parishes, and I plan to help those churches make the most of the excitement that comes from an iSingPOP Main Event concert."
“What’s most important for me is that all the children participating in the Main Event come away with a positive view of church. We might not know where their faith journey will go in the long run, but if they can hold on to the memory of this epic experience singing such positive and joyful songs in church, that will hopefully make a positive impact on their faith journey, and that’s what will make all the difference to me.”
Kirsty now lives in Worcester and attends St Paul’s church where her husband, who she met at Elim Bible College, is Youth Pastor. She enjoys the fellowship time she has with church members throughout the week and in her spare time enjoys the Arts and painting.
She added: “It’ll be part of my role to ensure there is an upcoming family-friendly service or event that we then invite the families attending the concert to. We really hope that this will lead to further engagement from local children and families in each of the seven parishes.”
“Hopefully those children attending will have such an amazing time that they will forever think of church as a wonderful place to be and want to come back to learn more about God’s great love for them, make friends and find a place to belong.”
Kirsty would love to hear from any church in Worcester diocese interested in learning more about how iSingPOP Resources can help them in their church community. Please email Kirsty for more information: mailto:kirsty.pierson@iSingPOP.com
