Holt church to host Christmas Tree Festival

Holt Church in the snowA Christmas Tree Festival will shine a light on the creativity of the local community at historic Holt church, just outside of Worcester next month.

Almost 20 trees decorated by school children, businesses, artists and other local people and groups will fill every corner of St Martin’s Church in Holt during the two-day festive fund-raiser on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December.

Mulled wine, hot chocolate and mouth-watering home-made Christmas treats will add to the festive flavour of the event, which has been organised by the Friends of the Chruch of St Martin in Holt.

“There has been tremendous enthusiasm for the festival and we can’t wait to see this very special old church lit up by a beautiful collection of Christmas trees,” said Reverend Wilcox.

Among those decorating trees will be pupils from Holt and Grimley Primary School, Hallow Primary School, Hallow Scouts and the Wild Goose project.

Money raised from the event – which will run both days from 11am to 4.30pm - will help to fund repairs to the church’s stained-glass windows. Visitors will need to bring cash to pay for festive refreshments.
