Following on from a crowd funding page set up onthe Just Giving website to help purchase one of the Worcester Stands Tallgiraffes as a tribute to the Revd Canon Matthew Baynes, a staggering 6,630 was raised.
At a very tense auction event in aid of St Richard's Hospice, the Kempsey Primary team managed to havethe winning bid for lot number 19 and purchased the amazing Giraffcus, designed byChris Morgan. Chris's inspiration for Girafficus was Worcester's rich Roman pastand the nearby Roman trade route of Ryknild Street.
Tracey Were, one of the fundraisers, said,
"Our newest editionto Kempsey primary is going to take pride of place near the new classroomswhich have been built and due to be opened over half term. We are thoroughlydelighted with our Giraffe and we have a new Warrior in fitting tribute and inloving memory of Revd Baynes who was a true Warrior"
The Worcester Stands tall auction event raised 210,000.
