Fladbury Walkabout

Logo for Fladbury villageThis year’s ‘Fladbury Walkabout’ take place on 1 and 2 July. The Walkabout is over 40 years old and is an annual village event, raising money for Fladbury Church and other village organisations.

St John the Baptist Church in FladburyThis year, the theme of the flower festival is English Country Gardens and eco-sustainability. Visitors pay to park at either end of the village and are given a map of the gardens that are open for viewing, some of which will be offering plants for sale. The church will be open with flower displays along with tower tours in the church promoting the history and practice of bellringing. You can purchase tea and cakes at the village hall, food at The Anchor pub or Chequers Inn and local artists will be exhibiting in Fladbury CE First school.

One of the churchwardens at Fladbury Church, Fran Summerfield, said: “The Fladbury walkabout is always a special event in the life of the village and a major fundraiser for St John the Baptist Church. It is great that this year people will be able to find out more about our bellringing team as the first ever Walkabout was held to raise funds for repairs to the church bells!”

The Fladbury Walkabout started in 1970 and initially took place every two years before becoming an annual event. All are welcome to come and see many of the fabulous gardens in the village over the weekend.
