Dementia Awareness Week 2019

A number of churches around the diocese are becoming moredementia-friendly, discovering that the journey begins with some simple steps. Some are starting to go further. You can see one example, the Evesham TeaService, on our diocesan web site, and we will soon be telling more stories.

This week doesnt only offer an opportunity to think abouthow your church could become more dementia-friendly. Its also a reminder ofthe importance of praying for those who are living with dementia, for theirfamilies and carers, and for all who are affected by the emotional and mentalsymptoms of the various physical illnesses we call dementia.

A prayer for Dementia Awareness Week:

God of hope and resurrection,
you know us better than we know ourselves, and draw us topeace and wholeness in your love.
We remember before you those who are unable to remembertheir own lives.
Guard and treasure their lost memories for them, and holdtheir past in your safe hands,
that when the death of the body comes, you may bring themto the full life of the resurrection,
restore and heal the memories of their lives, and givethem back to themselves,
that we with them may rejoice in your love, and find thefullness of life in your presence,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
