From 22 – 26 June 'Lifepath' descends on Great Malvern Priory, attracting hundreds of Primary School pupils from local schools. They spend a day focusing upon the way in which Aldwyn established the Priory as a centre of prayer, worship, healing, hospitality, art and music, at the heart of life in Medieval Malvern.
During the week, the young people explore the way in which the lifestyle of the medieval monks was shaped by their Christian faith, as well as learning about how that same faith affects people's 'lifepath' today.
Lifepath 2026 has gone ‘live’ for school bookings and within 1h 9m, the first school had booked and in the first two days 430 children were booked in from 14 schools!
The team are now looking to recruit the merry band of volunteers that help to make it all happen. Here are some handy FAQs, to encourage you to get involved and to have the best mid-June of your life so far!
I can’t come every day!
That’s absolutely fine. Volunteer shifts start at half an hour set-up or break down or you could do a morning, or an afternoon or a full day or days during the week.
I’ve never done it before!
None of us had until we were paired with an experienced Lifepath-er and learnt the ropes (and bracelets, and arch-building and packed lunch distribution and action songs and…)
I just really couldn’t wear a habit
If you really, really, really don’t want to wear one of the extremely fetching, hand-crafted white numbers, there are habit-free volunteer slots, too.
I’m no good at action songs
Nor’s the Priory’s Curate; she’s always a bar or two behind. But smiling and joining in the fun and getting marginally better by the end of the week. It doesn’t matter.
I’d prefer to help out ‘behind the scenes’
Great! Tea and coffee making? Gazebo putting up? Water station re-filling? Set up on 21st? Break down on 26th? packed lunch transportation (much more fun than you could possibly imagine) and there are many other roles. You can pray, too, for all the children and the teachers and the volunteers who experience Lifepath.
Do I need a DBS?
Yes, all Lifepath volunteers need a current DBS check. We’ll get it done for you, but it takes a while…which is why we’re seeking volunteers now.
But I don’t know anyone!
Yet. That’s the operative word! There’s a Lifepath Social Evening on 16 June at 7pm so everyone can eat pudding and get to know each other. But even if you can’t make that date, fear not! Once you appear at Lifepath you’ll soon be part of the Team (and, bonus, everyone wears a name badge, so there aren’t even names to remember!)
I can’t think of any other excuses reasons not to sign up
Perfect! Just follow this link and fill in the form. Hit the mid-June vibe right now and blow away those winter greys.
See you there!
