Church services planned for Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Churches across the Diocese are currently open with the chance to light a candle, sign a book of condolence or simply sit quietly and reflect on the life of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  Many will also be holding specific thanksgiving services and other events to enable their local communities to celebrate Her Majesty's life. Some of those services are listed on this page: 

Worcester Cathedral

  • Sunday 18 September, 4pm - A Service of Thanksgiving with civic and diocesan representatives in attendance. More details

Top Church, Dudley

  • Sunday 18 September, 6pm - Memorial Service for Queen Elizabeth, the Dudley civic service including local MPs and Lord Lieutenants, in partnership with Dudley Council.

Kidderminster West

  • Thursday 15 September, 6.30pm - Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving – in remembrance of her late Majesty and a chance to remember all those we have lost, particularly during the last two years. At Holy Innocents’ Church Foley Park, DY11 6LA
  • Sunday 18 September, 3pm - Messy Church (for all ages) at St John’s Church Bewdley Road, DY116RL
  • Sunday 18 September, 6pm - A Special Commemoration Service for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the eve of her funeral*

Old Hills, Malvern

  • Wednesday 14 September, 7pm - Service of vigil and thanksgiving, St Peter's Church, Powick (preceded by muffled bells)
  • Sunday 18 September, 5pm - A traditional language version of Evening Prayer with hymns (preceded by muffled bells), St Peter's Church, Powick

St James the Great, Lower Gornal

  • Sunday 18 September, 6.30pm - A service of thanksgiving and commemoration

Bromsgrove

  • Saturday 17 September, 6pm - A service to commemorate HM the Queen, St John's the Baptist Bromsgrove, 14 Kidderminister Rd. B61 7JW (Parking is not available at the church)

St Martin, London Road, Worcester

  • Thursday 15 September, 9.30am - a requiem for HM Queen Elizabeth II 

Teme Valley

  • Friday 16 September, 4pm at Kyre – ‘Take Breath’ (Group Silent Prayer) to commence with prayer for the Queen and our nation.

  • Sunday 18 September, 2pm - Walking Church from Hanley William Church – an opportunity to walk 3 miles together and talk about our late Queen.

  • Sunday 18 September, 6.30pm - Candle lit Commemoration Service at Stanford will be live streamed.

Wyre Forest West (Mamble with Bayton, Rock with Heightington and Far Forest)

  • Sunday 18 September: Services of Holy Communion for the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth
    • 9.30am St Bartholomew’s Church, Bayton
    • 11am St John the Baptist, Mamble

St James, Wollaston

  •  Sunday 18 September - 10am: service of thanksgiving and 6pm: Communion service with prayers of thanksgiving and remembrance

Redditch

  • Sunday 18 September, 6pm - Service of Commemoration marking the death of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at St Stephen’s Church. Supported by Redditch Choral Society, church, civic leaders and community will come together to give thanks for the Queen, her services to our nation and commonwealth and her enduring faith.
