Animato Children's Choir

Members of the choir celebrating with a silver cupAnimato Children's choir is based at Leigh Church and started as part of the parish's work with the Calling Young Disciples programme.

Recently, members of Animato Children’s Choir made their leaders and supporting family members incredibly proud when they took part in the Worcester Competitive Arts Festival at the Royal Grammar School.

The group of enthusiastic young singers impressed the audience by performing John Rutter’s The Lord Bless You and Keep You and Lin Marsh’s arrangement of Zip-a-dee-doo-dah. The feedback from the judges was very encouraging, with particular praise for clear diction, watching the conductor to stay together, and remaining focused, engaged and energetic throughout the performance.  It was a great experience for the children, and it was inspiring to watch other choirs perform too.Certificate of achievement, silver cup and a folded Animato choir t-shirt

Led by Claire Daffern, Jennie Bond and Rachel Gasper, Animato meets in Leigh Church every Thursday, 5-6pm, during term time.  It was started in 2018 and has gone from strength to strength.  It is a fun, inclusive group, aimed at primary school aged children.  New members are always welcome, and a broad range of repertoire is covered – from choral classics to musical numbers and folk songs to popular hits.  The group frequently perform in Leigh Church and have become a regular feature at the Alfrick and Lulsley Show.

Diocesan Small Churches Choir

11th November 2025

At the celebration service for small churches service held in the Cathedral last May, a number of singers expressed a wish to be able to sing together more often. Mark and Linda Blackwell from Fladbury (Nr Evesham) felt called to use their experience to try to set up a choir made up from singers from the small churches across the Diocese to sing at occasional services at Worcester and other cathedrals.
