Adult baptism in Ipsley

Rebecca about to have full emersion baptism, standing in a pool next to the Revd Garth NathanielRebecca Cambray was recently baptised at St Peter’s Church in Ipsley, Redditch by Canon Garth Nathaniel.

After the service, Rebecca shared her testimony:

“I feel incredibly blessed that I was born into a Christian family. I thank my Mom and Dad for nurturing my faith and giving it space and time to grow. From a little girl God had my heart. I remember when I was in Claybrook first school on ‘bring your own book day’ and I’d be there with my giant children’s bible! That love for him has never left me.

However, my journey hasn’t always been plain sailing. I have had some really challenging times in my life when I’ve felt a little lost. But I thank God that he has never lost me. There have also been some real highs, when I’ve felt so close to him and my faith has been overflowing. Times when I’ve witnessed his work and been in complete awe.

This rollercoaster journey is one I’ve struggled with until now. I’ve felt guilty, when in the past I’ve lost sight of God and struggled to carry the weight of disappointment.

I’ve learnt to seek peace and pursue it. I’ve learnt to be an active participant in the process. Knowing my salvation can never be earned or lost, but just by following him I am saved.

I’ve learnt that his work is accomplished to his perfect will and timing and we can all rest in the knowledge that he is working, all things together, for our good. And we know, that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him. (Romans 8)

My Favourite bible verse is Romans 15:13 – it’s one I always go back to: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

It’s a reminder in times of uncertainty to draw from his source of unlimited love and perfect faithfulness which keeps our minds in perfect peace.

I’ve got a lot of to be thankful for. My husband Ricky for his unwavering support and love - we’ve been married 18 years this December. I thank God for our two children Imogen and Ethan. Thank you, Lord for their kind, big hearts and for the laughter they bring every day. And I give thanks for the wonderful church family here at St Peter’s, for making by baptism possible and for making me feel so incredibly welcome.

May God be glorified in everything, Amen”
