David and Lynn Nichol are taking on the challenge of walking 70km in May to raise money for Christian Aid. They will be walking the West Highland Way from 24 – 31 May, actually walking a distance of 153km over the week!
The challenge is part of the Christian Aid fundraising at St Peter’s Pedmore and St Andrew’s Wollescote where David is the Rector. The focus for Christian Aid Week this year is on Burundi where malnourishment and poverty affect more than 70% of people. Christian Aid are working to empower families in Burundi to build reliable and diverse incomes.
Lynn said: “We were looking to do something different to raise the profile of Christian Aid and support their vital campaign to push back on poverty. We took up long distance walking during Covid when we walked from Pedmore to the sea so Christian Aid’s 70k in May seemed a perfect combination for us!”
All money raised will be used to support Christian Aid and help ensure more people get the skills and knowledge they need to fulfil their hopes and ambitions. £10 could provide one person with the training that supports their family to set up a small business, such as selling home-grown vegetables.
