Church Action on Poverty Sunday

Published: 10th January 2022

Church Action on poverty logoChurch Action on Poverty (CAP) Sunday takes place on the last Sunday before Lent each year. In 2022, it is on Sunday 27 February.

Building a powerful movement to unlock poverty has never been more important. More and more people are being swept into poverty, robbing them of their dignity, agency or power over their lives.

The pandemic has brought into focus pre-existing inequalities in society. For all the talk of ‘building back better’, it has led to dramatic increases in poverty, food insecurity and debt.

To prevent more people being swept deeper into poverty, it’s vital that the people affected have a say. Now more than ever, churches and communities need to come together to reclaim dignity, agency and power.

On Church Action on Poverty Sunday, join with other churches across the UK in giving, action and prayer. Celebrate the transformational possibilities of people coming together to reclaim their dignity, agency and power.
