Digital giving rollout

Published: 20th June 2022

Digital giving logoAs part of the national giving strategy of the Church of England, our diocese will be receiving 30 contactless devices for our churches this October, amounting to over £13,000 of investment.

Digital giving is becoming more important for our churches, as fewer people carry and use cash. A recent survey discovered that half of regular church goers have made a donation to a charity online, but only 12% had given to their church online, and from 2017 onwards we have seen more transactions being conducted by debit card than cash.

This rollout will give your church the opportunity to have a free or substantially subsidised contactless device with support in setting it up and tips for getting the most from it.Contactless giving at Top Church

Also in Autumn 2022, we will be launching a contactless “Try Before you Buy” scheme. Churches will be able to borrow a contactless device for a few weeks for a small fee to see if they want to invest in a permanent device.

Applications for your church to have a device from the national rollout will be open from Monday 27 June until Wednesday 3 August.

We are hosting two free webinars for people to find out more about the project, and digital giving in general on:

  • Tuesday 29 June at 2pm
  • Wednesday 30 June at 11am

Book your place here.
