Dean's portrait unveiled

The Dean's portrait wasunveiled at Worcester Cathedral on Monday afternoon. The portrait of the Dean of Worcester has beenspecially painted by Malvern based portrait painter Tania March, who is currentlyArtist in Residence at the Cathedral.

The Dean, the Very ReverendDr Peter Atkinson, said: 

It is a great honour to have been painted by Tania,and to be added to the rogues gallery of portraits of former deans.

The portrait was unveiled at4pm on Monday 1 October, in the Lady Chapel of the Cathedral,which is one of the Deans favourite spaces. It is also the setting for theportrait and was chosen because of this.

Artist Tania March, who isalso an Associate Lecturer at the University of Worcester, said: 

As artist inresidence, and as a portrait painter, I was inspired to fulfil this rolethrough painting this portrait. I would like to thank the Very Reverend Dr PeterAtkinson for this opportunity, and for having an interesting face topaint.

The portrait will be ondisplay in the Dean's Chapel from the 2 to 15 October 2018.
