What Do We Do When Church Stops Working?
A study day with Andrew Root, the Carrie Olson Baalson professor of youth and family ministry at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. During the day, Andrew will guide us through secularity in the west and understanding why ministry feels so hard. He will explore the present pace of western life, the ‘accelerated age,’ and how the church functions within it. He will explore the narratives of church decline, and where we might discover God within it.

Holy Communion in the Home training
Many lay ministers in the diocese (LLMs, ALMs and Eucharistic Ministers) are involved in taking the already consecrated Sacrament to people who are sick or housebound. Some times this is in the person’s own home, sometimes in residential care homes. This workshop is an opportunity to look at the liturgy we use, and the different practical issues that crop up in different contexts. It is an opportunity to share good practice, ask questions and reflect on how we do it, and whether we can do it better.
