Each year in February half term, the Junior Church at St John the Evangelist in the Parish of Dudley Wood and Cradley Heath usually stage a panto, but surely this year’s social distancing measures mean 2021’s show can’t go ahead? …Oh yes it can! Encouraged by Junior Church Leader, Harry Smith, the cast, who include the Rev’d Alicia Baker, would not be defeated and have taken the opportunity to hold it online instead.
Harry said, “The panto will blend Zoom scenes with pre-recorded musical numbers, edited together for our enjoyment.”
‘Alice in Quarentown’ will be shown on Saturday 20th February 2021 at 6.50pm on both the Church’s Facebook page and on YouTube. All are welcome to tune into the panto which will last for approximately an hour, including a two-minute interval.
“Alice is bored,” Harry continued. “Locked inside with nothing to do, she comes up with an idea to stave off boredom. Grab some popcorn, relax on your sofas and get ready to shout ‘he’s behind you’ at your screen; panto season is coming! Just not quite like you know it.”
