The Church of England Environment Programme has organised a series of webinars over this winter and spring 2021, exploring topics that contribute to the Church’s target of having ‘Net Zero’ carbon emissions by 2030.
These webinars may help sow seeds in parishes about what you can do to contribute over the next decade.
The topics covered by the webinars include heating systems, lighting, solar generation, electric vehicle charging and – importantly – general housekeeping and ‘quick wins’. You’ll note that our own DAC adviser, Susan Logan, has been commissioned to lead the webinars on heating systems.
The schedule and opportunity to sign up are on the Church of England website.
The webinars are offered across a number of dates to allow for greatest flexibility. It may be worthwhile joining forces within your parish/benefice as to who attends and then share feedback.
There will be much more strategic direction on the environmental programme coming out from both the national church and the diocese as we move into 2021: unfortunately disrupted by the pandemic this year.
Don’t forget to ensure that your parish completes the Energy Footprint Tool, available for the first time in this year’s parish return as this will be important baseline data for the journey to Net Zero.
