Thousands to gather in Worcester Arena at Pentecost

Two special events are beingheld at Worcester Arena on 9 June which will see thousands of Christians cometogether in one place to worship God and to pray for our county.

9 June is Pentecost Sundaywhen Christians mark the coming of the Holy Spirit to the disciples afterJesus death. Last year, over 1,000 people from churches across the Countycrammed into Worcester Cathedral and this year the event is moving to WorcesterArena to give more people the opportunity to gather together.

At 3pm, there will be an eventfor families. ALIVE Worcestershire will be a fun, high energy worship concertled by singer/ songwriter and author Shell Perris with the iSingPop band and aspecial guest appearance by international speaker, Rob Parsons. Tickets cost 4(15 per family) and are available from www.ticketline.co.uk/alive-worcestershire

At 7.30pm, the Arena will befull again with Christians from churches across Worcestershire gathering topray for the county. There is no ticket required for this completely free eventand we will be joined by internationally renowned speaker, Canon J John.

Michael Brierley, Canon atWorcester Cathedral and one of the organisers said: This is going to be suchan exciting day for Christians in Worcester. It was absolutely incredible whenso many people gathered in the Cathedral last year and with the Arena as ourvenue, this year is set to be even more special. I really hope that as manyChristians as possible will cancel their normal evening service to come andjoin us. Its definitely an event not to be missed!

Shell Perris, organiser of ALIVEWorcestershire said: "It's amazing that the very first ALIVEWorcestershire is happening on Pentecost, at Worcester Arena and in partnershipwith 'Thy Kingdom Come'. This will be the first of three annual concerts andeach one will give children and families the opportunity to worship God andfind out more about the Christian faith. It's guaranteed to be a fun filledafternoon for all those who come along!"

All are welcome to Worcester Arena for the two eventsto celebrate Pentecost. ALIVE Worcestershire will be from 3 5pm (doors open2.15pm) and the Thy Kingdom Come Prayer event with guest speaker J John will befrom 7.30 9pm (doors open 6.45pm).
