The Kidderminster West Team have been thinking about 20:20 vision in the year 2020, to support the charity Sightsavers.
On Saturday 29th February 2020, St John’s Church in Kidderminster opened wide their doors between 10am and 1pm, welcoming people to use part of Leap Day to visit church, say a prayer and enjoy a coffee and fellowship.
Revd Laura Betson, Team Vicar in the Kidderminster West Team, said, “We were delighted that people came to spend a little bit of their extra day in church, to pray and to support the work of Sightsavers.”
Visitors were encouraged to wear a pair of jazzy ‘2020’ glasses whilst adding silver coins to a giant outline of an amazing pair of silver spectacles! All of the money raised by visitors to the church and by the Tiny Tots Youth Club will be donated to the charity Sightsavers. In addition to taking part in this creative activity, visitors also had the opportunity to donate their old pairs of glasses to the charity.
“Good vision and access to sight treatment is something many of us take for granted, but it is unavailable to so many people in the world,” Laura continued.
The Kidderminster West Team continue to pray for the work of Sightsavers, who treat and prevent eye conditions, fight debilitating diseases and campaign for disability rights, transforming lives all around the world.
