St Oswald CE Primary School in Kidderminster has been givenan award for the schools commitment to children who are looked after.
The Virtual School invited all schools in Worcestershire whohave CLA (Children who are Looked After) to nominate those who have madeexceptional achievements under various categories including reading, writing,maths, citizenship, arts and personal development. Schools were also nominated for categoriesincluding Inclusion and Designated Teacher. St Oswald's were chosen as theoverall winner in the Inclusion Category in recognition of their dedication andcommitment to CLA.
Access and Inclusion Manager at St Oswald's, Paula Woodward, said: All thenominees attended a celebratory event at West Midlands Safari Park in theTreetops Pavillion. The venue wasdecorated beautifully, there were guest speakers, a comedian and two childrensang. Children and schools were thenawarded with framed certificates. Foreach category, one overall winner was then awarded with the most beautifulengraved glass award.It was an absolutepleasure to receive the award and to be recognised for the hard work we putinto providing a wide range of opportunities and life experiences for our CLA.
St Oswalds now has plans to develop their inclusive ethosalongside mental health.Initially theyare looking at Thrive training which they believe will be key to supportingself-esteem, self-worth and the mental health of lots of the children at the school,including CLA.
