The Revd David Lewis - RIP

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected death of the Revd David Lewis, 58, Rector of Elmley Castle with Bricklehampton & The Combertons and Associate Priest ofAshton-under-Hill.

David is believed to have diedwhile he was out jogging near the village of Elmley Castle where he lived. Hehad been Rector in the Diocese of Worcester for the past eighteen months, previously spending fourteen years ministering in the Diocese of Leeds. Davidhad also served as a Chaplain in Stavanger, Norway, and in Carlisle, Guildfordand Birmingham Dioceses following his ordination in 1988.

The Bishop of Worcester, Dr John Inge,said: David was an outstanding priest who had won the hearts of all those towhom he ministered in the months since he came to this diocese. His untimelydeath is a terrible tragedy and he will be greatly missed.Very many people, myself included, hadprofound affection and respect for him.Our thoughts and prayers are with all who mourn his passing, particularlyhis mother, his brothers and their families.

David's funeral will take place on Tuesday 24 September,1pm in Elmley Castle, followed by a private cremation. The family have asked for donations to the Children's Society in lieu of flowers as David was a long term supporter: https://www.childrenssociety.org.uk/
