Prayers for Peru

Published: 25th January 2023

Town in PeruOur partners in the Diocese of Peru have once again asked for our prayers following a series of violent protests across the country.

Protests started in December when the former president was impeached, and they are ongoing throughout Peru. Over 50 people have now died as a result of the protests and the government’s response to them.

Cathedral in PeruPlease pray for peace for Peru. Christians in the country are just completing a week of ecumenical united prayer for unity and there will be a meeting held at the Anglican Cathedral today, 25 January at 7pm Peru time (midnight UK time).

Please pray for the families of those who have died, for all of those who are injured and in hospital and for a just resolution to the situation which allows for law and order in the country to be restored.

In Juliaca where there have been the highest numbers of casualties, the Revd Luis Vizacarra has been seeking to support those affected by helping provide for soup kitchens for those who are staying near hospitals to support those injured in the protests. He is also trying to help with medical expenses for those who are in hospital and recovering for their injuries.

Pray especially for this work of all in the Diocese of Peru at this time.
