A new children's choir in Leigh

A new childrens choir has been started in the church ofLeigh, Southwest of Worcester in the Worcestershire West Rural Team.

Animato childrens choir is not explicitly a church choirbut was set up by a member of Leigh Church, Claire Jaggers, as a way ofreaching out to families in the local community and engage more young people. There is currently a small but dedicated group of singers and Claire hopes thatthis will continue to grow. They sing arange of songs and in December will give a short recital at the church toattract others to join them. Thechoir is open to children aged 6 11 with all musical abilities welcome. They rehearse from 5-6pm on Thursdays during term time.

Claire said: The children are making great progress andenjoying the fact that the rehearsals involve an element of vocal coaching andmusic theory, as well as learning a wide repertoire of music - this term hasincluded songs from the musicals, folk songs and pop songs.

Animatos recital of Christmas songs (both secular andsacred) takes place on Thursday 13 December at St Edburga, Leigh from 5-5.30pm with seasonal refreshments. It is completelyfree and open to all.
