To mark his retirement later in 2023, Sacristy Press are publishing a collection of 50 sermons preached by Peter Atkinson over the past 30 years.
'A Way of Putting It' has been edited by former precentor at the Cathedral, Michael Brierley. It book includes a foreword by Bishop John, an afterword by the Archbishop of York, and an essay on the art of preaching by Michael Brierley and Georgina Byrne.
Peter Atkinson has been Dean of Worcester since 2007, and previously served in parishes in south London, Surrey, Bath, and Sussex. He was Principal of Chichester Theological College 1991-94, and Canon Chancellor of Chichester 1997-2007.
Canon Stephen Edwards, Vice-Dean of Worcester, writes:
"This collection perfectly shows why Peter Atkinson’s sermons are so eagerly awaited and so keenly heeded. Inspiring, profound, and beautifully crafted – few preachers can match this blend of thoughtfulness and experience."
A Way of Putting It will be published on Palm Sunday, 2 April 2023, and will be available in the Cathedral Shop to those attending the Chrism Eucharist on Monday 3 April at a special price of £10.
