Elmley Castle, has started a new worshipping community at St Mary’s Church. The service takes place outside – ‘Messy Church goes Wild’!
CYD Mission Enabler, Helen Laird said:
“On Sunday 13th we met on a glorious November afternoon, to learn all about hope and saying yes! To God. We planted an acorn tree and some bulbs, which we hope will grow, and we are looking forward to seeing the bulbs pop up next spring.
We collected twigs and leaves so that we could use them to write YES. We listened to how Mary said Yes to God, and because of her Yes, the whole world was changed!! We then wondered about what it might mean for us to say Yes! to God this week and prayed that we found ways to say Yes to God.”
At the end of the service, those present toasted marshmallows to make smores and warmed up with hot chocolate, before planting some bulbs in a pot to take home.
Messy Church goes Wild aims to be outdoors whatever the weather and is taking place every two months. The next one on 8 January will be about journeys as they think of the wise men from the Orient making a journey to Jesus.
