St Denys Church in Severn Stoke recently held its first ever flower festival to raise funds for a toilet and kitchenette, which is needed for the church to organise more functions for the local community.
The local Rose & Crown Pub, 1st Severn Stoke Brownies, and St Denys Church floral ladies all worked extremely hard to put together the flower displays and exhibits, and they were supported by The Real Good Dairy, who did a display and provided the milk for the refreshments. The church invited St Mary’s Church Kempsey, St James Church Norton and Nuyard Country Centre to the event that spanned over three days from the 30 June to 2 July.
A member of the parish, and joint event organiser, Jane Hall said: “We couldn’t have achieved it without the sponsorship of Quanta Training Worcester & Severn Stoke Parish Council who funded the portable toilet. The support we had was amazing, everyone enjoyed the lovely home-made cakes and drinks, sitting and chatting, and taking in the atmosphere. It was so lovely to see so many people coming together to enjoy it.”
The parish is hoping to do more community events in the future and would like to say a big thank-you to everyone who got involved.
